Eliminate Cravings and Food Addictions
I have worked with eating
disorders for years, and have found that specific food
cravings and addictions are very hard to eliminate. You
know what yours are. For me it was sugars, particularly
chocolate. The most common addictive substances are sugar,
simple carbohydrates such as bread and snack foods, salt,
and fat. Using will power to eliminate addictive substances
works for awhile, but willpower seems to wear out and fade
away, and the addiction is back.
For over 20 years I've studied and treated all aspects of
the food-craving/addiction problem, but still, no matter
how many of the considerable methods I know, could not
figure out how to eliminate the types of cravings that
plague a person's mind and body, the type that you are
always trying to manage and resist. At long last I believe
I have found a technique that works, and it's easy! A bit
of background will help in understanding what this is and
how it works.
One of the techniques I use in my practice is called "cord
cutting." The theory behind it is that we are energetically
attached, or corded, to people whom we know, and have known
in the past, even though we have not seen them for years,
and may never see them again. Thoughts, feelings, and
messages continue to flow through these cords, and affect
us in some way, although we are almost always unaware of
it.*
For example, think of someone you love and who loves you.
How do you feel? Now think of someone you dislike. How do
you feel now? You never want to cut cords that carry
loving, supportive, positive messages, but you do want to
cut cords that carry negative messages. How do you know
what kind of messages are contained in a cord and being
communicated through it? You know by the way you feel.
So, I began to think, if you can cut cords to people, why
can't you cut cords to substances, places, and events? As
it turns out, you can. My clients and I have been
experimenting with cord cutting to addictive foods (which
also includes non-alcoholic beverages), and the results
have been more than gratifying. Words they use to describe
results are "amazing," "miraculous," "a huge relief,"
"freedom."
This is what happens. You come for a cord-cutting session
of an hour to an hour and a half, you identify which
substance you want to cut the cord to, and by the end of
the session the cord to that substance is cut. My personal
experience (Yes, I've done cord-cutting with myself), and
the feedback from others, is that you simply no longer
crave that particular food. You may think about it, but
there simply isn't the driving need to have it. You may
choose to have a little bit, but you notice that a little
bit is plenty and no longer creates the "more is never
enough" binge episode. You are now relaxed with that food
or beverage. Again, using myself as an example, a bag of my
favorite candy used to last me less than a week, but as I
write this it's been over two months since I opened a new
bag and there is still about a quarter of it left.
My clients and I have also found that cutting the cord to
specific foods begins to generalize to create other changes
in your eating, easily and naturally, with two exceptions.
First, once your primary addictive substance is no longer
an issue, something else may pop up to take its place. For
me it was pastries, so I had to cut the cord to pastries.
(I don't believe that pastries were a new addictive
substance for me, simply one that was lingering in the
background as long as I was eating my primary one.) This
brings us to the second point. It is necessary to cut the
cord to each of your existing addictive substances. It
doesn't work to just say "I want to cut the cord to
sweets," as each substance has it's own biochemical
signature and each one has it's unique energetic attachment
and meaning to you. But the good news is that there are a
finite number of cords. That number depends upon how many
foods you crave and are addicted to, of course, but so far
six to ten sessions appear to be the maximum number needed
to experience the relief and freedom you've always wanted.
I have not been able to locate anyone else who is using
cord cutting in this manner, so as far as I know this is an
entirely new process. Therefore, everyone who participates
in this process is a pioneer and helps me in my research
and data gathering. If you would like to be one of these
people, and become free of your cravings and addictions,
please telephone me at the number below for additional
